MOONWORK: somatic practice for queers

SOMATIC PRACTICE FOR QUEERS
ONLINE // ONGOING
TUESDAYS, 4:00 - 6:00 PM EST
starting after the autumn equinox, on 25 september

MOONWORK is a practice of making home in self, others, and the present moment, as perfect-for-now experiences that include past and future. MOONWORK is a celebration and exploration of cyclical time. It is a practice of transformation. It's a practice of change as generative and reliable, a practice of power as a vector of impact. It's a way to feel more, without overwhelm. It's a negotiation of community as care and nurturance, a constellation of communication grounded in capacity and clarity. It's a practice of commitment and desire that is tangibly backed up by your way of being and doing in this world. It's an engagement with shadow and shame that is accountable and liberatory, that supports sustainable action instead of collapse and denial. It is shedding. It is, above all, an emergent/emerging practice of the body as brilliant, wise, and worthy tool to cultivate loving resilience.

In more practical terms, MOONWORK is an ongoing online somatic practice group for queers. We will orbit the moon’s phases through a loose thematic pattern of the body’s three dimensions––length, width, depth––and sessions will include solo & group somatic practice, 1:1 coaching, and mini-lessons. Each season (every three months), participants will have the opportunity to reflect on & redefine their commitments to their work within this space. Each participant's work will be their own, in service of the transformation & healing they seek. Though participants may leave the group at any time, new participants will only be added at the start of a season, and my intention is to work intimately and deeply, in months and years rather than weeks.

As a new offering, grounded in emergence and resilient change, it is likely that the structure of MOONWORK will expand &/or shift over time. The core is strong and clear; the rest is adaptable, responsive cocreation. There will be more to this offering than our three group practice sessions per month, but I am waiting for you to show me what you need before deciding what “more” will be. MOONWORK is a space where all of my skillsets and toolkits over the last 12+ years of study & practice are available to you. The breadth of my learning & teaching spans trauma healing, somatic and movement practices of many types, nervous system health and resilience, tarot, birth work, yoga, writing and writing workshops, queer and femme and leather lineage/ancestry, mad pride/liberatory approaches to mental health, boundaries and consent, shadow/shame work, chosen family and polyamory and non-monogamy, and an ongoing question: “How do we embody and act from our power with integrity?”

COST: $100/MONTH*
DETAILS: 3 tuesdays/month, we meet on zoom for a 2-hour somatic practice session, including mini-lessons & 1:1 coaching. lessons will be tailored to group need/desire; participants will receive 1:1 coaching at least 1x/season.

there will be at least one more monthly offering to MOONWORK participants! i am waiting for this cohort to articulate need & desire before fleshing out the structure.

somatic practices will be recorded, but live attendance is expected/encouraged, as your capacity allows. 1-2 months/year will be "rest months," during which we will meet fewer times.

*i am offering low-cost & trade spaces for MOONWORK, but for this first cohort, i am offering those spaces only to clients/participants with whom i have an existing relationship. monthly fees will go up for future new cohorts after this first one! monthly fee is due every month on the 15th, regardless of how many sessions a participant is attending, including during "rest months".

cyclical consent for power-negotiated relationships

cyclical consent for power-negotiated relationships

we are negotiating power disparities in relationships constantly, in every context we move through. this is a workshop centred on those relationships we choose & mutually cocreate: our friends, chosen family, and partners. drawing on nearly a decade of experience doing d/s relationships and learning about them from leatherdyke mentors & elders, i offer a model of cyclical consent for building d/s dynamics that translates & supports effective, transparent negotiation of power across many different types of power dynamics between people, both systemic and individual.

in the face of often rigid pre-existing myths, ideas, and models of how d/s or cross-power-dynamic relationships "should" look and be done, what does it look like to cultivate dynamics that allow for evolution and reflect our own authentic desires? how do we centre in the shape of our power––chosen, obligatory, or restricted––and use it in ways that are aligned with our ethics & dreams for our communities & futures? how do we build dynamics that are consensual and accountable in ongoing ways?

this workshop is grounded in self-compassion & self-accountability, emergence & adaptation, the knowledge that there is no "one true way" to do d/s or negotiate power, and the reality that your body is a source of information you can trust.

this workshop takes place online via zoom on sunday 22 july, 2:00 - 4:00 pm EST. a recording will be available for one month after the live date in case you'd like to review or can't make it live.

to register: paypal or interac e-transfer (pw: somatics) $40 to hannah@bodywitch.com with the your preferred name & email address in the notes. you will receive a confirmation email with the zoom link to join. if you would like a reduced or no-cost spot, please EMAIL to check availability first! i have limited low-cost spaces available ($25) and three no-cost spaces, with priority to Black & Indigenous (to Turtle Island) participants.

traumababe4traumababe: a relationship workshop

no matter how crazy, traumatized, or neuroweird we are, we deserve love, care, and support

AND

sometimes our madness, trauma, and neurodivergence can make being in relationships kind of messy and hard, especially in conflict. in conflict, things can speed up and go deep real fast. we and our friends, roommates, lovers, partners, and family members can have a rough time sorting out whose shit is whose, which patterns & dynamics might be able to shift, and how to harm-reduce the sticky stuff that isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

this is a four-week workshop for you, created with love from someone who's lived a lot of hard, fucked up relational shit, and who's spent the last decade practicing and studying mad pride & body-based frameworks for healing and being in relationship.

PART 1: DEEP DIVING
SATURDAY 12 MAY WANING CRESCENT MOON, 2:00 - 4:00 pm
SATURDAY 19 MAY WAXING CRESCENT MOON, 2:00 - 4:00 pm

when we go in, we go deep. in this half of the workshop, we will recognize & honour how deep diving keeps us alive & offers invaluable wisdom. in rough seas with big waves, deep diving is actually the safest way to swim. over these two sessions, participants will be guided to prepare for the powerful & delicate work we will do together, and then dip down into the underworld for powerful shame-transforming practices. we will build resources & safety through somatic grounding & containment practices suited to each individual body, and skillshare knowledge about the deep, swift dives we take into conflict in our relationships. as we work around the new moon in taurus on 15 may, we will shed.

PART 2: SURFACING
SATURDAY 26 MAY WAXING GIBBOUS MOON, 2:00 - 4:00 pm
SATURDAY 2 JUNE WANING GIBBOUS MOON, 2:00 - 4:00 pm

the thing about going deep is, it's hard to see & hear clearly down there. sometimes this means that when we emerge from conflict, we've made some messes: said something shitty, crossed someone's boundaries, dropped the ball, or missed an opportunity. in this half of the workshop, we will focus on tools for accepting, grieving, and repairing what has gone wrong. participants will skillshare around re-orienting after surfacing, create their own map to use in conflict, and explore ways to come back into & repair relationships that may have been damaged while we were under. as we work around the full moon in sagittarius on 29 may, we will build.

LIMITED TO 10, PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED, DEADLINE 9 MAY: email hannah@bodywitch.com.

$150, with an invitation for those who are able to pay higher & those who need to pay lower: please pay as high as you are able, taking into your full-spectrum financial situation including income, savings, debt, family/other support, and class background. payment plans are always chill! eight spaces paid on average at full cost allows two no-cost spaces, available to folks in need who have strong curiosity & commitment to attend, with priority to Black &/or Indigenous participants.

simple tools for skillful boundaries

Boundaries: one of the hardest damn things to figure out, amirite?

In this workshop, participants will learn a simple, practical process for figuring out their boundaries, articulating those boundaries to those who need to know about them, and maintaining those boundaries. Boundaries exist to structure our lives so that more of what we desire and need gets in, and more of what drains and hurts us stays out. Developing our skills around setting boundaries allows us to take better care of ourselves, have more mutually nurturing relationships, and ride the up & down ferris wheel of life more smoothly.

This workshop is hosted by Venus Envy Ottawa; pre-registration required through their website!

somatics for grounding & containment

somatics for grounding & containment

In this workshop, participants will learn nurturing somatic* practices for grounding and containment, including how to adjust and adapt practices for their own bodies and for different moments. Grounding and containment practices are essential parts of any emotional/mental health emergency response toolkit: they help dial it down a few notches, make space to take a breath, and connect to a sense of safety. Professionals, parents, partners, friends, and others love telling folks how one should ground or contain when big shit comes up, but often it's not clear how to figure out what truly works. Through a guided process of sensing consent in their bodies, participants will leave this workshop with at least a fewreliable practices that can be used preventatively or urgently during rough times, flip-outs, and meltdowns. *This time, I'm offering this workshop online in order to make it accessible for folks who can't get into my office, and folks who can participate better when they don't have to leave their homes/beds.*

$60/person, with an invitation for those who can to pay higher & and those who need to get in touch about paying lower. Please pay as high as you're able taking into account income, savings, family/other support, debt, and class background! In order to offer two reparations spots for Black &/or Indigenous participants at no cost, the other five spots must be filled. Offering pricing this way helps make tangible the realities that healing is a communal endeavour, that everyone deserves it, and that healing work deserves to be compensated.
